Donald Trump has turned the Republican Senators into craven political lemmings and willfully dragged the party of Lincoln to the edge of the tarpit  of extinction. And not merely the Constitution with it but American  democracy.

 In a mere 3 torturous years he has turned almost all of America's allies into enemies and made the United States the most hated country in the world.  He has sullied the honor of the American military, handed Syria to Russia, unilaterally shattered the agreement with Iran that was keeping it from coming a nuclear power. 

Not a bad payoff to Vladimir Putin who colluded with him in being elected President in 2016 and has now openly announced his support for his reelection in 2020. 

He has turned American subcultures against each other not merely to a shot away from tribal warfare but beyond it already.  Dixie versus Yankees, Coastals versus Middle America, Gays versus Straits, Blacks versus Cops,  Anglos versus Latinos, even men versus women.

 Theodore Sturgeon wrote a story in which such a creature was finally reduced to putting red ants into the hills of black ants and black ants into the hill of red ants.  When asked why he did such things, he said to watch them fight each other because I can.

Nero fiddled while Rome burned.  No big a deal for Donald Trump who can't play a musical instrument but tweets incoherently against the reality of greenhouse summer while the ice caps melt, the oceans rise, and California burns. 

But enough of what even your average ostrich must surely know even with its head as deep in the sand as it can go. Surely therefore there must be at least the required 20 or so Republican Senators who have at least the brains of such a bird.  Surely it cannot be ignorance that would refrain them from doing their patriotic duty to remove this criminal madman from the White House before it's too late but fear of losing an election or the ire of Trump and Mitch the Bitch.

Must you really be reminded that you have sworn to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States?
